Challenge
Tata Electronics has been acquiring several external companies in an endeavour to expand its business across the value chain.
The expansion, however, limited the company’s visibility into the applications, middleware platforms, partners, and business processes of the acquired organizations.
Effective consolidation was essential to maintain business continuity and support future growth.
The client reached out to TCS to implement IBM WebMethods suite of products, which would span multiple functions and processes, including supply chain, finance, and product design, to provide complete visibility of applications and middleware. The objective was to ensure a practical, scalable, and future-ready strategy for growth through acquisitions.
Solution
TCS was selected for the project given their strong technical and domain expertise.
TCS took a systematic approach towards the implementation of the IBM WebMethods suite of products, ensuring the implementation was both efficient and effective.
The key steps included:
- Capturing and documenting key integration elements using a TCS template-based framework to improve collaboration and operational efficiency
- Creating a system architecture with high availability to reduce system downtime
- Leveraging reusable scripts to support the implementation as well as save on time, effort, and cost spend
- Ensuring configuration of Java database connectivity and system adapters to connect systems such as MES, OMS, fulfilment, warehouse management, plant maintenance, SAP, PLM, logistics, and supplier management, facilitating communication
- Implementing a trial license to ensure business continuity until the final license was procured
- Establishing a governance framework for integration lifecycle–design and coding standards, best practices, and role responsibility to streamline the end-to-end lifecycle
